More than 3,000 mobile robots from SAFELOG are in use worldwide in production facilities such as Factory 56 in Sindelfingen. The new cooperation agreement aims to jointly develop and expand the robots’ innovative control software. As a self-service platform, the Mercedes-Benz in-house development enables transparent real-time and historical monitoring of robot fleets as well as data-based process monitoring. The use of technology should help to detect faults at an early stage and optimize the necessary supply processes in the long term.
The extension of the cooperation between the two partners symbolizes an important step towards automated and digital logistics, in which intelligent and networked systems play a central role. The knowledge gained from this should create synergy effects that contribute significantly to the further development of automotive production of the future.
“We are proud that our mobile robots have been used successfully in production facilities for years. The cooperation agreement with a term of five years is proof of the trust placed in the quality and reliability of our solutions,” says Mathias Behounek, Managing Director of SAFELOG. And Klaus Bücheler, Head of Logistics Planning at Mercedes-Benz, adds: “The technology partnership with SAFELOG is an essential part of our fully automated and highly efficient intralogistics at the Sindelfingen site. By working even more closely together, we will continue to drive forward our vision of intelligent and networked logistics.”
