Data protection at a glance

When you use this website, various personal data is collected. Personal data is any data with which you could be personally identified. This privacy policy explains what information we collect and what we use it for. It also explains how and for what purpose this happens. The legal framework for data protection is provided by the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG) on the basis of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

With regard to the standard terms used (controller, personal data, processing, processor, etc.), we refer to the definitions in Art. 4 GDPR.

Please note that data transmitted via the internet (e.g. via email communication) may be subject to security breaches. Complete protection of your data from third-party access is not possible.

How do we collect your data?
On the one hand, your data is collected when you communicate it to us. This may be data that you enter in a contact form, for example.
Other data is automatically collected by our IT systems when you visit our website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. Internet browser, operating system or time of page visit). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter our website.

What do we use your data for?
Some of the data is collected to ensure the proper functioning of the website. Other data can be used to analyse how visitors use the site.

What rights do you have regarding your data?
You have the right to receive information about the origin, recipient and purpose of your stored personal data free of charge at any time. You also have the right to request the correction, blocking or deletion of this data. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice if you have any further questions on the subject of data protection. You also have the right of appeal to the competent supervisory authority.

You also have the right, under certain circumstances, to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted. Details can be found in the privacy policy under « Right to restriction of processing ».

Analysis tools and third-party tools
When you visit our website, your surfing behaviour can be statistically evaluated. This is done primarily with cookies and so-called analysis programs. The analysis of your surfing behaviour is usually anonymous; the surfing behaviour cannot be traced back to you. You may object to this analysis or prevent it by not using certain tools. You will find detailed information on this in this privacy policy.
You can object to this analysis. We will inform you about how to object in this privacy policy.

General information and mandatory information

Revocation of your consent to the processing of your data

Many data processing procedures are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke your consent at any time. All you need to do is send us an informal email. This shall be without prejudice to the lawfulness of any data collection that occurred prior to your revocation.

Right to object to the collection of data in special cases; right to object to direct advertising (Art. 21 GDPR)

If data processing is based on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) of the GDPR, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data for reasons arising from your particular situation; this also applies to profiling based on these provisions. The respective legal basis on which processing is based can be found in this privacy policy. If you file an objection, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can prove compelling reasons worthy of protection for the processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims (objection pursuant to Art. 21 para. 1 GDPR).

If your personal data are processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for the purpose of such advertising; this also applies to profiling, insofar as it is associated with such direct marketing. If you object, your personal data will no longer be used for the purpose of direct marketing (objection pursuant to Art. 21 para. 2 GDPR).

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

In the event of violations of the GDPR, data subjects are entitled to log a complaint with a supervisory agency, in particular in the member state where they usually maintain their domicile, place of work or at the place where the alleged violation occurred. The right to log a complaint is without prejudice to other administrative or judicial remedies.

Right to data portability

You have the right to demand that any data we automatically process on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment a contract be handed over to you or a third party in a commonly used, machine readable format. If you should demand the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will be done only if it is technically feasible.

SSL or TLS encryption

This site uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or requests that you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from « http:// » to « https:// » and by the lock symbol in your browser line.

If the SSL or TLS encryption is activated, data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Information, blocking, deleting

You have the right to free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of data processing and, if necessary, a right to correction, blocking or deletion of this data at any time within the scope of the applicable legal provisions. For this and other questions on the subject of personal data, you can contact us at any time at the above address.

We delete personal data when there is no need to continue to store it. In particular, a requirement to continue to store personal data may exist if the data is still required in order to fulfil contractual services or to check and to grant or reject guarantee and warranty claims. In the case of statutory retention obligations, deletion shall only be considered after expiry of the corresponding retention obligation.

Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted. You can contact us at any time at the above address. The right to demand restriction of processing applies in the following cases:

If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored with us, we usually need time to check this. For the duration of the check, you have the right to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted.

If the processing of your personal data was/is conducted in an unlawful manner, you can request the restriction of data processing instead of deletion.

If we do not need your personal data any longer and you need it to exercise, defend or claim legal entitlements, you have the right to demand the restriction of the processing of your personal data instead of its deletion.

If you have raised an objection pursuant to Art. 21 Para. 1 GDPR, your rights and our rights will have to be weighed against each other. Until it has been determined whose interests prevail, you have the right to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted.

If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data may only be processed – apart from being stored – with your consent or for the purpose of asserting, exercising or defending rights or protecting the rights of another natural or legal person or on grounds of an important public interest of the European Union or a Member State.

Information on data collection

Hosting

For the reliable maintenance of our online presence we use an external service provider, on whose server our website is stored and from where it is made available (hosting). In addition to the content and metadata, this hosting service provider also processes the usage, communication and contact data of interested parties and visitors to this online service for us. The legal basis for this is a commissioned processing contract as well as our legitimate interest in the efficient and secure provision of our online content in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 (f) GDPR in conjunction with. Art. 28 GDPR.

Server log files

When you visit our website, we or our provider automatically collect and store information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address

The aforementioned data is processed by us for the following purposes:

  • Responding to contact requests and communicating with users
  • Evaluation of system security and system stability
  • and, if necessary, for other administrative purposes

This data will not be combined with data from other sources.

This data is collected on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free display and optimisation of the website – for this purpose the server log files must be recorded.

The IP address will be deleted from all systems used in connection with the operation of these Internet pages after 7 days at the latest. We can then no longer establish a personal link to you from the remaining data.

A CDN is a service that delivers large amounts of data or media files such as graphics or videos faster via a network of regionally distributed servers connected to one another via the Internet and guarantees data access to an online service even during high access volumes and peak loads. The processing of user data within this framework is carried out solely for the aforementioned purposes and to maintain the security and functionality of the service.

The use of the service for the secure and efficient provision, analysis and optimisation of our online content constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR.

Google Analytics uses so-called „cookies“. These are text files that are stored on your computer and that allow an analysis of the use of the website by you. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

Google Analytics cookies are stored based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior to optimize both its website and its advertising.

IP anonymization
This website uses Google Analytics with the extension « AnonymizeIP ». This means that IP addresses are further processed in abbreviated form, so that they cannot be directly connected to specific individuals. Only in exceptional cases, such as to avert danger, is the full IP address transmitted. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics is not combined with other data collected.

Leadfeeder

In addition to Google Analytics, this website uses the Leadfeeder service for statistical evaluation of visitor access. Provider is Liidio Oy / Leadfeeder, Mikonkatu 17 C, 00100 Helsinki, Finnland.

Leadfeeder accesses the list of website visitors’ IP addresses provided by Google Analytics and links them to information about the companies that can be found on the internet under each IP address. Due to IP anonymisation carried out in advance by Google Analytics, a direct personal link to the website visitor is not established during automated lead generation. A reference to a person may be assumed when reading the company information linked to the website.

For more information on Leadfeeder and the data it collects, please see:

Google Ads and Google Conversion Tracking

This website uses Google Ads. Ads is an online advertising programme from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”).

In the context of Google Ads we use so-called conversion tracking. When you click on an ad served by Google, a cookie is set for conversion tracking. Cookies are small text files that the Internet browser places on the user’s computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used to personally identify users. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognize that the user has clicked on the ad and has been redirected to this page.

Each Google Ads advertiser has a different cookie. Thus, cookies cannot be tracked using the website of an AdWords advertiser. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for the Ads advertisers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers are told the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a conversion tracking tag page. However, advertisers do not obtain any information that can be used to personally identify users. If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can opt-out of this by easily disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie by changing your browser settings. In doing so, you will not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

The storage of “conversion cookies” and the use of this tracking tool are based on Art. 6 para. 1 f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both their website and their advertising.

For more information about Google Ads and Google Conversion Tracking, see the Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

You can configure your browser to inform you about the use of cookies so that you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to accept or reject a cookie. Alternatively, your browser can be configured to automatically accept cookies under certain conditions or to always reject them, or to automatically delete cookies when closing your browser. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.

Google Maps

This site uses the Google Maps map service via an API. It is operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

To use Google Maps, it is necessary to save your IP address. This information is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The provider of this site has no influence on this data transfer.

The use of Google Maps is in the interest of making our website appealing and to facilitate the location of places specified by us on the website. This constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Further information about handling user data, can be found in Google’s privacy policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.

Profiles in Social Networks (Social Media)

We maintain online presences within social networks and process user data in this context in order to communicate with the users active there or to offer information about us.

We would like to point out that user data may be processed outside the European Union. This may entail risks for users, e.g. by making it more difficult to enforce users’ rights.

In addition, user data is usually processed within social networks for market research and advertising purposes. For example, user profiles can be created on the basis of user behaviour and the associated interests of users. The user profiles can then be used, for example, to place advertisements within and outside the networks which are presumed to correspond to the interests of the users. For these purposes, cookies are usually stored on the user’s computer, in which the user’s usage behaviour and interests are stored. Furthermore, data can be stored in the user profiles independently of the devices used by the users (especially if the users are members of the respective networs or will become members later on).

For a detailed description of the respective processing operations and the opt-out options, please refer to the respective data protection declarations and information provided by the providers of the respective networks.

Also in the case of requests for information and the exercise of rights of data subjects, we point out that these can be most effectively pursued with the providers. Only the providers have access to the data of the users and can directly take appropriate measures and provide information. If you still need help, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Plugins, embedded functions and content

Within our online services, we integrate functional and content elements that are obtained from the servers of their respective providers (hereinafter referred to as « third-party providers »). These may, for example, be graphics, videos or city maps (hereinafter uniformly referred to as « Content »).

The integration always presupposes that the third-party providers of this content process the IP address of the user, since they could not send the content to their browser without the IP address. The IP address is therefore required for the presentation of these contents or functions. We strive to use only those contents, whose respective offerers use the IP address only for the distribution of the contents. Third parties may also use so-called pixel tags (invisible graphics, also known as « web beacons ») for statistical or marketing purposes. The « pixel tags » can be used to evaluate information such as visitor traffic on the pages of this website. The pseudonymous information may also be stored in cookies on the user’s device and may include technical information about the browser and operating system, referring websites, visit times and other information about the use of our website, as well as may be linked to such information from other sources.

Newsletter dispatch

Newsletter and Electronic Communications

We send newsletters, e-mails and other electronic communications (hereinafter referred to as « newsletters ») only with the consent of the recipient or a legal permission. Insofar as the contents of the newsletter are specifically described within the framework of registration, they are decisive for the consent of the user. Otherwise, our newsletters contain information about our services and us.

In order to subscribe to our newsletters, it is generally sufficient to enter your e- mail address. We may, however, ask you to provide a name for the purpose of contacting you personally in the newsletter or to provide further information if this is required for the purposes of the newsletter.

Double opt-in procedure
The registration to our newsletter takes place in general in a so-called Double-Opt-In procedure. This means that you will receive an e-mail after registration asking you to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary so that no one can register with external e-mail addresses.

The registrations for the newsletter are logged in order to be able to prove the registration process according to the legal requirements. This includes storing the login and confirmation times as well as the IP address. Likewise the changes of your data stored with the dispatch service provider are logged.

Deletion and restriction of processing
We may store the unsubscribed email addresses for up to three years based on our legitimate interests before deleting them to provide evidence of prior consent. The processing of these data is limited to the purpose of a possible defense against claims. An individual deletion request is possible at any time, provided that the former existence of a consent is confirmed at the same time. In the case of an obligation to permanently observe an objection, we reserve the right to store the e-mail address solely for this purpose in a blocklist.

Information on legal bases
The sending of the newsletter is based on the consent of the recipients or, if consent is not required, on the basis of our legitimate interests in direct marketing. Insofar as we engage a service provider for sending e- mails, this is done on the basis of our legitimate interests. The registration procedure is recorded on the basis of our legitimate interests for the purpose of demonstrating that it has been conducted in accordance with the law.

Contents
Information about us, our services, promotions and offers.

Measurement of opening rates and click rates
The newsletters contain a so- called « web-beacon », i.e. a pixel-sized file, which is retrieved from our server when the newsletter is opened or, if we use a mailing service provider, from its server. Within the scope of this retrieval, technical information such as information about the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and time of retrieval are first collected.

This information is used for the technical improvement of our newsletter on the basis of technical data or target groups and their reading behaviour on the basis of their retrieval points (which can be determined with the help of the IP address) or access times. This analysis also includes determining whether newsletters are opened, when they are opened and which links are clicked. This information is assigned to the individual newsletter recipients and stored in their profiles until the profiles are deleted. The evaluations serve us much more to recognize the reading habits of our users and to adapt our content to them or to send different content according to the interests of our users.

The measurement of opening rates and click rates as well as the storage of the measurement results in the profiles of the users and their further processing are based on the consent of the users.

A separate objection to the performance measurement is unfortunately not possible, in this case the entire newsletter subscription must be cancelled or objected to. In this case, the stored profile information will be deleted.

Prerequisite for the use of free services
Consent to the sending of mailings can be made dependent on the use of free services (e.g. access to certain content or participation in certain campaigns) as a prerequisite. If the users would like to take advantage of the free service without registering for the newsletter, we offer them to contact us.

Processed data types
Inventory data (e.g. names, addresses), Contact data (e.g. e-mail, telephone numbers), Meta/communication data (e.g. device information, IP addresses), Usage data (e.g. websites visited, interest in content, access times).
