On March 29 and 30, 2023 it was time for AGV Mesh-Up<\/a> again in Hall 3 of the Dortmund Trade Fair. This year, for the third time, the VDMA hosted the live test event of the VDA 5050 interface as part of the IFOY TEST CAMP INTRALOGISTICS. While in 2022 the main focus was on demonstrating the orchestration and smooth parallel operation of several mobile transport robots from different manufacturers by a fleet manager, the setup in 2023 was a lot more challenging.<\/p>\n

For the first time, two control systems were used, so KINEXON handled fleet management on one day and SIEMENS on the second. In total, equipment from nine different manufacturers took part in the LIVE test. In addition to our SAFELOG AGV X1 1200 tt, Bosch Rexroth, DS AUTOMOTION, ek robotics, Fraunhofer IML, Grenzebach Group, MLR, OMRON and STILL were all on site. Nokia provided a 5G campus network for the AGV mesh-up, which handled all communications for the test setup.<\/p>\n

After setup, commissioning and test drives on 27.03. and 28.03.2023, it got down to business on the two days of the event. Compared to previous years, more practical applications were demonstrated, such as picking up and placing load carriers with pinpoint accuracy or storage and retrieval processes in two rack elements set up on the test area.\u00a0 The mobile robots drove around the course in continuous operation during the exhibition opening hours to give all visitors the opportunity to see the devices in a live test.<\/p>\n

Our colleagues Mathias Behounek, Michael Reicheicher, G\u00e9r\u00f4me Stemmer, Max Kalk and Moritz Schmidt were on site for SAFELOG to see the latest innovations and at the same time to answer customers’ and interested parties’ questions about AGVs and VDA 5050. They were supported by our software team, consisting of Sebastian Wahl, Axel Bu\u00df, Christopher Ludwig, Philipp Hell and Roman Frank, who took turns looking after our Mesh-Up AGV and were available to answer questions about IT.<\/p>\n
